Welcome to my art blog, dear visitors!Â
Here I will be updating you on my artistic endeavors, creative tips and advice, personal projects, and anything else that is exciting to share.Â
This past week I was able to take a much needed vacation (the first in years because of the pandemic), and saw the incredible awesomeness that is the Outer Banks and Cape Hatteras in North Carolina. I have been before, but since this was my second time, I decided to really research some different activities (other than just eating and sleeping, my FAVORITE pastimes) and became more familiar with the area.Â
One of my favorite things about the week was visiting the Shipwreck Museum in Hatteras, and learning that there are potentially 2000 shipwrecks around the cape, and that Blackbeard himself used to frequent the area! The Outer Banks really sit far to the east in the Atlantic, and with the constantly shifting sands (The Diamond Shoals), it's easy to see why some ships just never make it to safety before running aground...
Another totally fascinating tidbit that I learned was that in 2006, Hatteras suffered a Doritos "disaster":
"In November of 2006, the tastiest disaster struck the waters around North Carolina’s Outer Banks. A shipment container stuffed full of Nacho Cheese, Spicy Nacho, and Cool Ranch Doritos tipped and fell overboard into the ocean. The bags of chips washed up on Hatteras Island, where locals then salvaged then—ate—the surplus of shipwrecked snacks. There was even a report of someone filling up a truck with the payload."Â

You can even see some very old Doritos bags on display at the museum as well! All in all...an excellent little trip!
...and now back to your regularly scheduled art programming! :)
